What is NMAT EXAM in Philippines?
NMAT Exam for MBBS in Philippines is the entrance exam known as National Medical Admission Test conducted by CHED (Commission of Higher Education Department). The NMAT exam is an exam designed to upgrade the selection of the students seeking MBBS / MD admission in Philippines. As per the medical Act of 1959 of Philippines, the Board of Medical Education (BME), Under DECS order no 52 series 1985 and in consultation with the association of Philippines Medical Colleges foundation, required the NMAT as a prerequisite for admission in all Medical Universities in Philippines

- NMAT exam in Philippines for MBBS / MD admission conducted twice in a year. Once in March/ April and Next on October / November.
- 1st Part of Exam takes 3 hours and 2nd part of Exam is 2.5 hours.
NMAT Exam Philippines Syllabus 2024-25
NMAT exam is conducted in 2 parts. Part 1 exam is of mental ability and Part 2 exam consist of academic proficiency. The First part has 4 subjects which checks the aptitude that were found to have co-relation with the academic performance of medical students, while the four subjects measures the proficiency which are the part of academic aback group required of student to the medical course.
The subtests in Part 1 are as follows :
- VERBAL - This is the exam to check the verbal ability in English such as reading comprehension, word analogies etc
- INDUCTIVE REASONING - This is the exam of numbers, letter and figural series and figure grouping items.
- QUANTITATIVE - This is the exam of fundamental operations, problem solving & date interpretation. It is to measure the general reasoning which is ability to organise and apply basic mathematics knowledge and reasoning to find solutions.
- PERCEPTUAL ACUITY - This exam comprises of hidden figure, mirror image, and identical information. Solutions to these items shows the accuracy in visual perception, and an ability to extensive of scanning though eyes and mind. this is the exam of wide-ranging of focus of attention
The subjects in part 2 are as follows:
Biology, Physics, Social Science & Chemistry. Social science include items in psychology, sociology and anthropology

Students can appear unlimited time in the NAMT exam. For example, he/ she can appear 11 times in 5.6 years whole course duration.
